The walkout by UNC food service workers has persisted for more than three weeks.
The U S military said three American helicopter crewmembers downed in North Korea on August 1 will be released Wednesday at Panmunjom. Spokesmen said officials from ALS and North Korea will meet at 11 am local time for the release before the men travel to the United States for medical checks. The crew are Capt David H Crayford Spec 1 Herman E Hofstatter and WO Malcolm Loe pka, with injuries reported as serious and slight before later described as natural condition.
A Pacific storm battered a tiny island 500 miles northwest of Hawaii. Nineteen Coast Guard crew were picked up or sheltered on rooftops while a Navy ship with two helicopters rushed toward the flooding. The island’s navigational gear, valued at 837000, was reported lost as waves 1300 miles northwest of Hawaii reached the sandbar island built up since 1992.
Madison Wisconsin reports Richard Stolman 19, a University of Wisconsin sophomore, drew No 4 in the draft lottery. His brother Douglas 21, a University of Kansas senior, drew No 2. Parents expressed disbelief and confusion as the results arrived.
