Gaston American Legion Post 23 sponsors a square dance Friday at Memorial Hall. Dancing begins at 8 o'clock with Mr and Mrs Fred Foster and their string band providing music. A small admission fee is charged. Project chairman Sam McKay says the dances are clean entertainment for Legionaires and families and invites neighborhood groups to attend.

Cotton referendum set for December 14 in Gaston county
Cotton farmers nationwide will vote on whether marketing quotas will apply to the 1955 cotton crop. The secret ballot referendum will occur December 14 in each cotton producing county in North Carolina. If approved two thirds vote, price support for cooperators would range from 24 to 90 percent of parity. if not approved, maximum support would be 50 percent of parity for 1955. Hospital Kids To Visit Ivey's Next Wednesday
Orthopedic Hospital children will travel by 18 ambulances and 40 cars to Ivey's in Charlotte for the annual Christmas party with Santa Claus. A Highway Patrol escort will precede the party to the city limits and Charlotte police will take over.
