Postmaster G W Lam er reports Post Office receipts for the first 21 months of the year totaling 85 245 65 with Novembers receipts up over last year. November 1952 saw 44 072 16 in business locally and the year to date 550 13. Totals for 1982 reached 450 008 and 1953 594 159 0H. The postmaster is pleased with the gains and hopes to hit 000 000 by year end. He noted only one quarter left to reach the target.

Watson Sentenced Five to Seven Years for Store Looting
Lewis Frank Watson, 31, of Gastonia, pleaded guilty to safebreaking at Franklin Hardware on West Franklin Avenue. Judge George B. Patton sentenced him to five to seven years in prison after Watson admitted taking 18 shotguns and rifles, shells, cartridges, hunting boots, knives, and other items valued near fifty dollars.
