Dr J C Patrick Kings Mountain Physician Dies
Dr. J C Patrick well known Kings Mountain physician died at his home at 4 AM from a cancerous illness after four years of suffering. He was 41 or 42, had served as Kings Mountain alderman and mayor, and leaves a widow Nellie Brown, eight brothers and six sisters. Funeral held at 10 AM with Knights of Pythias pallbearers and interment in the town cemetery. He was a longtime A R P church member and regarded highly in the community.

Rioting in Tung Chow Leaves Twelve Dead in China
Twelve persons were slain and part of Tung Chow, China, was destroyed Sunday in a riot sparked by the edict requiring soldiers to cut their queues. E Carr, an express messenger on the Asheville-Columbia line, was arrested days earlier for robbing his car. Funds posted in Marion freed him on bond.

A severe electrical storm and lightning in St Louis Sunday killed a woman and a boy and injured eight others. Buildings on both sides of the river suffered significant damage. At DeSoto Missouri four people were hurt.

Mrs Nancy A Holland Dies Near Dallas at 62
Mrs Nancy Ann Holland widow of Julius Holland died at her home near Dallas Saturday at 1 30 pm after a three to four week illness from blood poisoning developing from a bead on her thumb. Funeral services were held at the home and the interment was in Oakwood cemetery. She was a daughter of the late Jacob A Rhyne and 62 August 5. Survived by three sisters and three brothers including Mrs A B Rhyne Gastonia Mrs Adeline Rhodes Dallas Mrs Alice Horsley New Hone and Messrs John Laban W H and Jas R Rhyne Gastonia. Also leaves children Cora and Minnie at home Mrs Blanche Kirksey Gastonia and George Holland near the old home place. She was a loyal Methodist.

Refuses to Build Sheds for Concord Passenger Station
Mr B Herman of the Southern Railway met Concord officials including Mayor Wagoner to discuss a proposed passenger station. The railroad will erect the station at about thirty thousand dollars but will not add a shed or other city demanded improvements, estimated at seven thousand dollars. The city now must decide to accept the rail line plans or wait for a larger future station.
