Road Sentence For Defendant In Court Here
Boyce Harper, 42, of 708 West Allison avenue, was sentenced to six months on the roads by Judge W. E. Shive in Gastonia city court for the Sunday knifing of his brother in law Roy Youngblood, 23, after an argument over a funeral for Harper’s sister. Youngblood was treated at Gaston County Negro Hospital for a deep cut on his right arm. In another assault case, Herbert Gullick Jr, 909 East Fourth avenue, received six months suspended for cutting a man he said he found with his wife. The victim was David Porter, 1110 North York street, who was cut on the thumb. John Jenkins, 43, of 305 West Lincoln avenue, was cleared of an assault charge by his son Benjamin when the father pushed the boy for not obeying his mother. Jake Lowery, 25, of 313 Tanyard road, was cleared of a Peace warrant brought by Mable Adams, whom he said he "rooms" with.
