Mount Olivet Local No. 486 of the Farmers Union held an ice cream sociable that drew over 100 people and added nine new members. Eleven new members were enrolled earlier, with twenty four new admissions expected for August, mostly women, as they plan a betterment association and growth for the district three miles west of town.

The second Ratchford descendants reunion met at Joseph F. Ratchford’s home southeast of Gastonia on August 19. Attendees included Rev J J Kennedy and Rev G W Hanna with the Lewisford Band providing music. Mr L A Hartsee took his six year old son to Gastonia for a foot operation he has been deformed since birth. Farmers west of Dallas suffered a severe storm causing crop damage and a cow owned by Mr George Pasour was killed by lightning.

Jewelry recovered after theft by baggage masters on railroad
