Mrs. Joseph Jones Rucker, 83, of 1776 Poston Circle, died Tuesday night in a rest home after a weeklong illness. Funeral services set for Thursday at 11 a.m. at Carothers Funeral Home chapel with Dr. J. G. Huggins and Dr. W. Ward Barr officiating. graveside at Rose Hill Cemetery, Royston, Ga, at 4 p.m. Survived by four daughters, three sons, two sisters, 40 grandchildren, and 2% great-grandchildren.

Blythe Brothers vice president CHARLOTTE R N Blythe said today a 29321 highway resurfacing project in Gaston county is under way. The plan covers U S 321 from Gastonia to High Shoals N C 273 to Mount Holly and N C 274 from Cher Iryville to N C 16. Work is progressing on N C 274 with 31105 tons of bituminous concrete. Traffic will be maintained on single lanes. The job should finish by September 15 and employ about 15 workers at peak.

Two Are Injured In Auto Wreck Near Cherryville
Frank E. Wright twenty of Lincolnton and Arnold D. Murphy fifty one of Cherryville were admitted to Gaston Memorial Hospital Tuesday night after their cars collided head on on North Carolina Highway 159 near Cherryville. Murphy traveled west toward Cherryville in a 154 car and Wright traveled east toward Lincolnton in a 1953 model. Wright suffered scalp and facial lacerations while Murphy had a broken pelvis and other injuries. Murphy was reported in poor condition. Both cars were a total loss.
