Stolen Car Crashes into Parked Cars in Gastonia
A stolen 1956 model car crashed into two parked vehicles on North Marietta Street, causing over $1,000 in damage before the driver fled. Gastonia officers C. C. Elmore and W. L. Tilson chased and caught Charles C. Woods, 24, of 312 North Oakland Street. Woods was jailed on auto theft, reckless driving, and driving without a license. The damaged vehicles belonged to Jett Tot Stanback and Charlette Williams. The crash occurred about 1:05 a.m. after the car, running without lights, failed to stop.
