Death of Mrs. M. S. Torrence at Gastonia home
Mrs. M. S. Torrence died at her home south of Gastonia last Thursday morning from a stroke of paralysis after extended illness. Widow of H. A. Torrence she leaves a half brother C. P. Robinson of Gastonia and half sister Mrs. S. A. Crawford of McConnellsville S C. Funeral services were held Friday at Olney Presbyterian Church where she was a faithful member.

Shooting Affray Near Ozark Mill Ends Usual Night Ride
A violent incident in which Robert Hoffman was critically wounded occurred near the Ozark Mill on Saturday night. Mack Gunter along with John McFalls and Will Kimball, after drinking, roamed the Loray Mill area and fired revolvers before colliding with an iron stake by John Pressley’s home where Mrs. Pressley was dying. Gunter fired at Hoffman on the porch as Hoffmann lay with Mrs. Pressley. Hoffman was wounded in the head but survived. Gunter is in custody awaiting trial Wednesday. Dr. Sloan treated Hoffman and removed the bullet.

Thornburg Charged in Mayor's Court with Unreturned Dog
In the mayor's court Mr. J. W. Thornburg faced three charges. Represented by F. F. Griffin he pleaded not guilty to failing to return a dog for taxation, allowing a vicious dog to run at large, and not muzzling his bulldog.
