The Reverend Earl Armstrong of Gospel Tabernacle will lead 5:30 p.m. Sunday worship at the Carolina Cathedral Cottage pier, one mile below the Catawba River bridge on the Charlotte Gastonia highway. Attendees from river cottages and others are invited for 30 minute services through August and September. By car from Wilkinson Boulevard at Beaty's service station, take a second turn to the end of the hard surface. By boat, go to Catawba Colonel just below the railroad trestle.

Gastonia youth Larry Hanna age 6 was injured when his new bicycle collided with a car door opened by Robert Bingham on West Franklin Avenue around 11 am. Witnesses say the boy struck the door as Bingham pulled to the curb. He was taken to Gaston Memorial Hospital with possible facial fractures. authorities say injuries may be serious.

In Gastonia Municipal Court on Saturday, 34 year old June Campbell was found innocent of owning liquor found in his hand while admitting drunkenness. Judge Julius T. Sanders praised his honesty yet ordered 30 days suspended for drunkenness. Campbell, of North Rhyne Street, claimed the bottle belonged to a host and that officers arrived shortly after he sat at a Ratchford Avenue home. Officers Hern don and Burris testified they found the liquor during the July 23 incident.
