Former death row inmate granted new trial in Gaston County
In a 3-3 Supreme Court decision with one abstention, Michael Patrick Ryan, once on North Carolina death row for the 2007 murder of 65-year-old David Farrar in Mount Holly, will get a new trial after a lower court found jurors did not hear all the evidence. Co-defendant Wesley Adair pleaded guilty and testified.

Woman killed in single car crash near Kings Mountain
Brittany Jones a 29 year old resident of Kings Mountain died in a Friday afternoon crash on North Cansler Road near Kings Mountain. Investigators believe she lost control of a 2010 Dodge Charger while speeding about 100 mph and not wearing a seat belt. Her car hit trees and she was ejected 31 feet from the vehicle. The crash shut down the two lane road for hours as troopers investigated.
