City expands GoGastonia fleet after resident concerns

Graduation rate uptick across Gaston County with standout gains

Preliminary 2023-24 proficiency scores show mixed results across grades with some declines in subjects yet the county records a higher overall graduation rate. Seven high schools posted gains, notably North Gaston from 78.3 to 88.3 percent, Bessemer City from 75 to 80.9, and South Point from 94.2 to 97.2 percent. Cherryville, Stuart W. Cramer and Gaston Virtual Academy also rose.
