Man charged with impersonating deputy in Gastonia

Gastonia man, 55, is accused of impersonating a sheriff's deputy and brandishing a gun at a newspaper carrier, claiming to be a community watch volunteer. Sarah Ellis, 43, says the incident occurred outside 2099 Overhead Bridge Road as she delivered The Gazette. Russell denied the allegations. no sheriff's deputy record exists.
