Jury absolves doctor and midwife in malpractice suit

Jurors found local doctor George Jacobs and midwife Nancy Kaney not negligent in a case involving Brandon Bumgardner, born March 14, 2007, with left arm impairment. Ashley Women’s Center and CaroMont Regional Medical Center were named but removed. Trial in Gaston County Superior Court lasted about two weeks with Kaney testifying she and Jacobs followed proper procedures.
