SignFest Festival Supports Deaf Community in Gastonia
The SignFest festival and walk to raise deaf awareness will occur September 21 from noon to 6 p.m. at Gastonia Rotary Pavilion. Organizer Starr Clinton aims to honor Deaf Awareness Month, connect attendees with resources, and educate the hearing public about deafness. A city hall walk and earplug simulation lead to a pavilion full of vendor booths and opportunities for business owners and families to engage with the Deaf community.

Museum to host Kakassy exhibit reception in Dallas
Local artist C M Kit Kakassy will showcase her artwork at the Gaston County Museum in Dallas on Saturday from 1 to 3 p m at 131 West Main Street. The public reception marks the opening of a new display highlighting Kakassy s career from her 1938 immigration to the United States to her studies at North Shore Art League.

Sweet Grace opens in Dallas selling ice cream and candy
Abigale Sigmon and Lillian Grace Zollo opened Sweet Grace at 3130 Dallas High Shoals Hwy offering bulk candy milkshakes traditional cones and ice cream nachos with a display of Blue Bell flavors. Sigmon, 22, worked in an ice cream shop while at Western Carolina University and started making freeze dried candy last October.
