Thanksgiving shoppers line up for gift cards at Belk Belk Belk
Gaston County residents spent Thanksgiving with family and friends and shopped sales. A line of more than 100 formed at the Belk store at Eastridge Mall before doors opened at 4 pm for a chance to win gift cards up to 500. Louise Mazziotti of Gastonia hoped to buy something good with the prize while others awaited Black Friday deals at Best Buy. At Erwin Center, six teams played in the Turkey Bowl flag football tournament, a Thanksgiving tradition for six years, with bragging rights on social media cited by Gene Neely, a 2001 North Gaston High graduate.
