Belmont teacher charged with felony sex offense with student
Teika Helton, 45, a former Belmont teacher, faces a felony sex offense charge after investigators say she had a sexual relationship with a former student who is now a college student. Police allege the encounter occurred in a Belmont development between May 18 and May 22 this year. Helton admitted exchanging sexual texts prior to the student's graduation and was booked on a $10,000 unsecured bond.

One Dead In Gastonia Shooting Leads To Charges
Police say a man in a wheelchair shot and killed 49-year-old Charles Anthony Tony Thompson in Gastonia near North York Street and Allison Avenue. On Tuesday evening two men, Anthony Anton Sanders 51 and Antonio Davis 30 both of Gastonia, were charged with first degree murder Davis also charged with accessory to first murder and possession of a firearm by a felon. Eugene Leach friend of Thompson commented on the tragedy.
