Gaston grads join Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade with Pride of the Mountains
Twenty four Gaston County Schools graduates will perform in the 93rd Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade alongside Western Carolina University's Pride of the Mountains Marching Band. Led by drum majors Spencer Childers Cailey Alexander and Kristen Fletcher the band includes 528 members from WCU's 12 167 students and 12 staff. Childers a Stuart W Cramer graduate leads in his third year and Slade from Forestview reflects on the journey since seeing the parade in 2014. PARADE A3.

Belmont approves downtown district for Chronicle Mill redevelopment
Belmont City Council voted 4-1 to create a conditional zoning Downtown District for the Chronicle Mill and surrounding parcels at 96 E. Catawba St. The 7 acre plan envisions a 117-year-old textile landmark redeveloped with residential, office and commercial uses, parking and amenities as developers begin construction and engineering steps.

Gaston County's McAdenville known as Christmas Town USA competes in USA Today’s Best Public Holiday Lights Display in the USA. Voting runs from November 4 to December 2 with winners announced December 13. Voters must be 18 and may vote once every 24 hours.
