Memorial Day tribute by Stan McDowell honors fallen service members
Stan McDowell of McAdenville lines Wesleyan Drive with about 500 small flags on Memorial Day and posts over 2000 flags during July. The tribute honors heroes who died in service, celebrates independence, and salutes veterans. His son Captain Mark McDowell, a Sky E fighter pilot, died near Ghazni, Afghanistan in July 2009 along with co pilot Captain Thomas Gramith after their F-15E crashed during a long combat mission.
