Former Gaston nonprofit director charged with embezzlement

Stephanie Roberts, former executive director of Gaston County Cancer Services, is charged in federal court with embezzling over 136000 from 2016 to 2022 and concealing the theft as pay. She allegedly withheld 202000 in taxes, misreported tax withholdings, and filed a false tax form. Roberts is set to appear in court Friday. attorney Rick Beam did not comment.

Mount Holly Votes to Install Security Cameras on Greenway

Mount Holly City Council approved spending 20000 dollars to buy and install five security cameras along the Riverbawk Greenway at Tuckaseege Park after residents raised safety concerns. City Manager Jonathan Blanton said police and parks staff proposed surveillance during the annual retreat and the measure was approved. The greenway attracted over 33000 visitors last year.
