RELIGION: Gays receive mixed reactions and messages from area churches. Tom has not told his father he is gay, and his mother doubts his acceptance. About 11,000 evacuees requested aid, with as many as 35,000 possible to flee if safe passage is secured. Mediators in New York pressed for a peace plan to partition Bosnia into ten semi autonomous provinces.
