Emperor penguin wanders 2000 miles to New Zealand coast
A young Emperor penguin, likely lost while hunting near Antarctica, ended up on Peka Peka Beach in New Zealand after a 2000 mile swim. At about 10 months old and 32 inches tall, it appeared healthy but thirsty and in need of guidance back south. Experts urged onlookers to keep a safe distance and dogs away as officials monitor the fragile visitor.
