Bill Martin Springwood dies at 70 in Gaston County
Bill Martin 70 of Springwood died June 20 2007 at his home. A lifelong Gaston County resident he retired from Parkdale Mills and is survived by wife Addie Conner Martin and three children. Funeral 3 p.m. Saturday at Sharon Freewill Baptist Church with burial at the church cemetery. Visitation 7-9 p.m. Friday at the church. Arrangements Forest Lawn West Funeral & Cremation Service.

Roy McNeil testified for a second day as an expert in cadaver dog work in the Jerry Anderson murder case. He described Kiser the cadaver dog alerting near a tree, the toolbox, and a front loader bucket on the Anderson farm, while defense challenged his expertise and records.

Car crashes into Shelby home injures driver
A white four door car crossed the center line on Elizabeth Avenue in Shelby and slammed into Patricia Scott's house, leaving debris inside and a cracked wall. Driver Donna Michelle Ruff, 38, of Kings Mountain, was injured but not fatally, treated at Cleveland Regional Medical Center and later Carolinas Medical Center.
