Tryon to Host World Equestrian Games Draws Visitors
The 2018 Fédération Equestre Internationale World Equestrian Games at Tryon International Equestrian Center run Sept 11 to 23 are expected to bring up to half a million visitors and up to 400 million dollars in regional economic impact. Hotels across the region report rising room rates and limited supply, with examples from Columbus, Saluda, Flat Rock, Asheville, and Hendersonville showing substantial increases during the games period. Local tourism leaders caution about nationwide lodging demand and mixed local impact through mid May.
