House votes to cut securities fees
The House approved H.R. 1088 by 404 to 22 to lower SEC related fees, a move supporters say amounts to a 14 billion dollar tax cut over ten years. The bill targets stock transfers and registrations, and would raise SEC salaries to retain staff amid departures to private sector jobs.

ECB trims euro growth forecast as inflation outlook rises
The ECB reduced 2001 euro area growth to 2.2 to 2.8 percent from 2.6 to 3.6, citing a slower global economy, while lifting inflation projection to 2.3 to 2.7 percent. It cautioned that rate cuts risk boosting inflation, confirming no immediate move amid still robust domestic demand.
