Woods Stumbles Early But U S Open Remains Open

Tiger Woods three putted from 40 feet on No 4 and missed several greens in the first round. He lacked a birdie but the soggy Pebble Beach course may favor his length and soft greens as rain reshapes the leaderboard. Competition remains open rather than a coronation.
