Belmont council split over $1 million downtown revamp
Belmont faces a budget vote on a $1 million downtown revitalization that includes brick walks plantings and antique lighting with new utility lines. Mayor Pro Tem Mickey Price opposed the plan calling it a protest vote while two members were absent and a June 19 vote is planned. Property owners and developers say the project will spur private investment and additional tax base, noting a $13 million potential influx from a linked development.
