A woman visiting the cemetery found Memorial Day flags missing from American Legion graves. Carpenter, Carswell, and other Legion members blamed theft and questioned motives, noting the cost to the Legion and the disrespect to veterans who served the country.
Carpenter and fellow veterans reported May 27 that flags placed on local graves were stolen between May 29 at 7 30 p m and Monday 8 a m Police say no leads yet and two teenage boys were seen near the cemetery The city utility team had not removed the flags and a tip line was provided for anonymous information
