Officer charged with DWI in bridge crash near Shelby

Kings Mountain Police officer Kyle Coman Bell, 25, of Shelby, faces DWI, exceeding safe speed, and failure to stop after a May 8 crash on Sperling Road near Waco. Bell, who was driving alone on a motorcycle, struck a bridge railing, was treated at Cleveland HealthCare System, and released. His court date is July 17.

DWI driver in head on crash sends two to hospital

A Friday head on collision on Lower Dallas Road injured two people, one in serious condition. Michael Kennedy, 33, of Dallas, crossed the centerline in a 2000 Honda Accord and struck Juan Ortiz in a 2003 Chevrolet SUV. Kennedy faces DWI, reckless driving, resisting arrest, and driving left of center charges. Both drivers expected to recover. Fire crews from Dallas and Spencer Mountain assisted.
