Catawba River Artisans Festival Saturday
The Catawba River Artisans Festival runs 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Belmont Chiropractic Center grounds in Lakewood Professional Park Belmont NC. The juried show features pottery jewelry photography paintings textiles stained glass mosaics and wood sculpture with demonstrations and music by Demperio Hertz Music Fire Creek Bluegrass and Cedric Guthrie. Hogzilla BBQ offers free tastings while supplies last. A list of participating artists is on the festival site.

Comic-Con at Gaston County Library this weekend
Gaston County Public Library hosts Comic-Con from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday June 3 at 1955 E. Garrison Blvd Gastonia with an appearance by members of the Sith Legion. Also Myers Memorial United Methodist hosts Super Sunday June 4 from 4 to 6 p.m. in the pumpkin patch beside the church with costume wearers and local heroes such as fire, police, and K-9 units. A Foothills Interfaith Assembly event runs June 11 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the parish life center in SC 274 just over the state line, featuring a luncheon and charitable auction.
