Belmont boy 15 survives cancer and earns hero family honor
Dee White of Belmont, a two time cancer survivor and student at South Point High School, is named a 50 member Hero Family by the Alexs Lemonade Stand Foundation. The family will represent North Carolina in a June fundraising drive. Dee battled acute lymphoblastic leukemia first at age five and again at age twelve, enduring bone marrow transplants from his sister Lyana. The second transplant was successful and Dee remains in remission.
