Clinic marks 10th anniversary of low cost spay neuter program
Terry Kenny, executive director of the Low Cost Spay Neuter Clinic in Gastonia, reflects on a decade of work with the Animal League of Gaston County. The clinic started after a push to reduce euthanasia and now celebrates ten years aiding shelter animals. In 2007 Dallas shelter intake reached 9,107 with 4,238 in 2016 and 3,685 in 2017, while many animals were euthanized early on.

Wild Wing Cafe settles wrongful death case in motorcyclist death
Gastonia restaurant Wild Wing Cafe reached a settlement with the family of 29 year old Adam Patrick Browne who died after being struck by Victoria Keaveny on East Franklin Boulevard near South Belvedere Avenue on October 8 2018. Browne a Chaos Tattoo artist from Kings Mountain died next day in a Charlotte hospital. Keaveny previously allegedly drank to excess at the restaurant and refused a breath test. she faces multiple charges including second degree murder and driving while impaired. A wrongful death petition was filed in Gaston County Superior Court and the settlement details remain sealed.
