School supply drives boost Gaston County families this August
Gaston County community leaders promote back to school assistance with multiple drives. Free backpacks and supplies will be distributed at events August 1 through August 10 across Belmont, Dallas, Cherryville, Cramerton, and other locations. Donations welcome at police departments, town halls, churches, and thrift stores.

Police departments across Gaston County plan National Night Out events on August 6. Dallas will host 6 to 8 p.m. at Cloninger Park with food vendors games demos and a fire truck spray-down. Belmont runs 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Stowe Park with hotdogs music and family activities. Ranlo hosts 5 to 9 p.m. at 15 Park Dr with food music bounce houses and face painting. Gastonia’s Rotary Pavilion offers live music food raffles vehicle tours and more from 6 to 8 p.m. Patriots Park in Kings Mountain opens at 6 p.m. with water slides games and free backpacks.
