Jaime Brown of Mount Holly spotted musician Dave Matthews in a Gastonia Starbucks line. He checked his coffee then waited while locals photographed him near his tour bus before heading to the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre in Charlotte. Brown, a Burton Hills hairdresser, had hoped to attend the show after meeting the star. The Dave Matthews Band has been popular for two decades with hits like What Would You Say and So Much to Say.
Brandi Costner, a Texas Roadhouse waitress in Gastonia, saw Dave Matthews at a Target Starbucks on Cox Road around 1 p.m. He wore a black T-shirt, shorts and sneakers while awaiting his drink on a day he headed to a concert at Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in Charlotte. A Target employee and another bystander also encountered the singer.
Gaston County commissioners plan to hire The Mercer Group of Atlanta to conduct a county manager search at an estimated 15 000 plus expenses. The group offered a low cap price and familiarity with North Carolina. Officials will hear a formal presentation before possibly voting at Tuesday’s meeting.

The Mercer Group proposes a $16,500 finder’s fee plus up to $8,000 in out-of-pocket expenses for travel lodging and advertising with Gaston County receiving a $1,500 discount. Finalist interview travel costs are not included and are difficult to estimate.
