Grant extends reach at Gastonia museum with $50,000 grant
Gastonia's African American Museum of History and Culture was awarded a $50,000 grant from the North Carolina Office of State Budget and Management. Director Dot Guthrie says the funds will cover operational costs and allow the museum to buy display pieces, upgrade technology, and develop new exhibits. She has ordered mannequin display cases to showcase uniforms and significant clothing artifacts, and plans to acquire more art from nationally known artists to broaden audience engagement.
