Garden to table program expands at Gaston County Schools
Gaston County Schools expands its farm to lunch room program with help from local agriculture professionals Wisdom and Cherie Jtar of Deep Roots farm. Nutrition Director Angela Calamia says the effort aims to reach 40 percent and will emphasize fall and spring crops as lettuce production increases. The program, recognized in 2023 for supplying vegetables to summer meals, harvested over 400 pounds of produce in a recent session.
