Man with revoked license hits car then church lawn

Jeffrey Michael Gaither 50 of Madison Green Drive Gastonia was arrested Monday night for driving with a revoked license and hit and run causing property damage after ramming a car, fleeing, and damaging bushes at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church on South York Street. He is held on a 3500 bond. history includes larceny and multiple prior offenses.

Belmont bids farewell to rusted rail cars on Glen Way Street

Belmont removed the colorful old train cars from along Glen Way Street after a Dallas buyer purchased the locomotive and caboose from South Main Cycles on North Main Street. Only a passenger car remains as owner Steve Pepitone cites liability and deterioration. He had discussed repurposing the cars for a shop or restaurant but they failed building code.

Charlotte City Council voted 7-4 to allow people to use restrooms aligning with their identified gender, prompting state lawmakers to consider intervention.
