Prescribed Burns Planned at Crowders Mountain State Park

Crowders Mountain State Park will stage prescribed fires on five trails to clear debris, renew soil nutrients, and support fire dependent species. Access will be restricted during burn days, closures last a day or two, and crews train volunteers beforehand. Park ranger Kelly Cook, a burn boss, notes fires are weather dependent and not truly controllable.

Judge blocks NC school voucher law amid lawsuits
