Notable historical calendar reform and landmark legal moments
In 1582 Pope Gregory Xill issued a papal bull on calendar reforms. In 1761 James Otis Jr argued against writs of assistance, declaring a house a castle. In 1868 the House impeached Andrew Johnson, later acquitted. In 1981 Buckingham Palace announced Charles’s engagement to Diana. A jury found Jean Harris guilty of second degree murder in the Tarnower case.
