A group of former classmates join to launch Ole Dallas Brewery in their hometown, aiming to build a local craft brewery with community ties and plans for a taproom and distribution. The effort centers on collaboration, regional ingredients, and shared entrepreneurship.
An American Eagle CRJ700 flight 5320 struck a deer on takeoff from Charlotte International Airport and aborted a Gulfport, Mississippi bound flight. FAA said the pilot declared an emergency near noon. Emergency foam sprayed on the plane. no injuries reported.
Police in Charlotte say a 65 year old Walter Scott Jr of Lancaster County South Carolina was found dead from a gunshot wound near uptown while delivering papers for over 40 years. Another man flagged officers with a non life threatening gunshot wound and was taken to hospital.

Gaston County spoke with County Manager Earl Mathers as the 12 mile Piedmont and Northern Railway again risks inactivity after Iowa Pacific Holdings declines renewal of its two year lease. The line linking Gastonia Mount Holly and Belmont shows limited traffic despite passenger Rail and transloading contracts with Superior Carriers. The lease ends in May with a return to inactivity and questions over long term viability.
Belmonts downtown will see a new summer concert series replacing Friday Night Live after a decade of large crowds. The Downtown Belmont Development Association, a newer nonprofit, will launch the event aiming to fill the void and provide a high quality community gathering with music and activities.
