Man Rescued After 12-Foot Fall At Gastonia Construction Site
A 59-year-old construction worker fell twelve feet into a basement pit at the Lawyers Building on West Main Avenue in Gastonia around 3:15 p.m. Firefighters rescued him after the concrete he stood on collapsed. The man was able to speak with first responders.

Firefighters rescue man from Gastonia pit after fall
Responders pulled a man from a concrete pit in downtown Gastonia after a fall likely caused by cutting concrete. Firefighters rappelled in and strapped him to a stroke basket attached to a firetruck ladder, lifting him after about 45 minutes. He sustained multiple arm and leg injuries and was taken to CaroMont Regional Medical Center. The man’s name had not been released as of Wednesday evening.
