At Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum Janet Jackson's tour was interrupted when a 19 year old man Mario Backman of Manhattan allegedly entered her dressing room during the show. In Florida actor Brad Renfro was ordered into a three month substance abuse treatment program after violating probation for yacht theft and other offenses. He could face nine months if the program fails. In New York Steven Weber will replace Matthew Broderick in The Producers joining March 19 with Henry Goodman taking over for Nathan Lane.
Former teen pop star Tiffany, now 30, plans a Playboy pictorial in April as she presents a grown image. Publicist confirms breast augmentation. Known for I Think We’re Alone Now and Could’ve Been, she is married with an 8-year-old son and released The Color of Silence in 2000.
New York Manhattan judge rules Patricia Bentrup must defend eight lawsuits over a December 1998 fire in her building that killed four. Fire officials tied the blaze to a wall heater short circuit and a door propped open, while prosecutors seek hundreds of millions for wrongful death and property damage. Macaulay Culkin was not at home. Wanda Chappell, 40, a Random House editor, was among the deceased. The judge will let a jury decide Bentrup’s responsibility for the fire’s spread.
