Harris Teeter aims for Gastonia site in new shopping center

The Gastonia Planning Commission will hear a public proposal for a Harris Teeter anchored shopping center on nine southeast Gastonia acres near Kendrick and Robinwood. City planners back the plan despite past traffic concerns, with potential City Council action depending on the vote. Harris Teeter, once in Gastonia, left in 2012 and Kroger now plans to expand the brand in the region.

Dallas woman dies in one vehicle wreck

North Carolina Highway Patrol investigates a Tuesday morning single car crash that killed Gloria Chacon-Hernandez of Katherine Court near Dallas. The 51 year old woman died when her 1997 Nissan veered left of center, overcorrected, and struck a tree on Dallas High Shoals Highway near Miles Road. She was alone, wearing a seat belt, and speed may have been a factor.
