GED passing score cut will retroactively aid North Carolina students
About 700 North Carolina students who previously failed high school equivalency exams will be retroactively granted passing grades after the GED scoring change from 150 to 145. The GED Testing Service says the revision applies to tests since January 1, 2014 and aims to reward higher scores with incentives like free college credit. The move follows an 18 month study showing GED completers are better prepared for college than recent high school grads. Gaston College administers tests in Gaston County with a $20 per test fee and a 60 day retest wait.
