William Kennedy Smith was acquitted of sexual assault and battery after a 90 minute jury deliberation. The case centered on a 30 year old woman's allegations of being chased toppled and raped on the Kennedy family estate lawn. Supporters outside the courthouse cheered as the verdict was announced.
