FDA says Red Cross blood operations flawed
The FDA says the American Red Cross has long failed to comply with blood center regulations and good manufacturing practices. Inspectors found 25 violations in Atlanta and 63 at Washington headquarters, including improper release of HIV and cytomegalovirus flagged blood, prompting potential fines and court-ordered mediation disputes.
