Wake the World brings wakeboarding to Moss Lake event

Wake the World volunteers and visitors gathered at Moss Lake on Monday to share wakeboarding. Chuck Hoyle, who helped bring the event to Moss Lake in 2018, says it achieves his six year goal by helping people with disabilities meet others and enjoy freedom on the water. Participants receive a chair or skis and guidance from two Wake the World professionals, enabling both children and adults to experience wakeboarding.

Family stunned by fatal police shooting

Laporshia Shanks, 31, opened fire on police at her Gastonia apartment on May 18 after officers arrived to investigate a disturbance. She fired first, wounding a officer who was treated and released. Shanks was killed after more than a dozen shots were exchanged. her mother described a chaotic scene witnessed at the doorway.

Waterbean Coffee Nears Opening In Gastonia FUSE District

Waterbean Coffee plans a Gastonia location across from the former Powers Seafood site at 618 W Franklin Blvd within Hangar 618, a Lenox Developing project. Owner Tony Vo said gutting costs overran estimates. the 4,115 square feet will house the upscale shop alongside a car club and wrapping business.
