Surplus funds aid Gaston County child care families through May
A temporary $855,000 state surplus funded vouchers helping about 600 children with child care costs in Gaston County since January. The aid ends in May, leaving roughly 300 families on the waiting list and others facing higher bills as the budget year closes. About 2,000 children are helped yearly by the county program, with eligibility based on employment or school enrollment and income.
