Gaston County unemployment hits 1999 levels in 2015 rise
Employment data released by the North Carolina Division of Employment Security shows Gaston County reaching the highest employment level since December 1999. Marissa Gordon of Gaston County Economic Development cited major employers confirming recent hirings, including CBM-Precision Parts, Comtex Seneco, Farris Fab & Machine, Modern Polymers, Dole Foods, American & Efird, Dalton Dynamics and Owens Corning.

Aman pleads guilty in teen sex abuse case
Martin Aman, 38, pleaded guilty Thursday to six counts of indecent liberties with a child, receiving a minimum sentence of six and a half years in prison. Prosecutors say he pursued a romantic and sexual relationship with a girl who was 13 when abuse began in 2012.
