A Gallup gathering of prominent men and women, led by War Camp Community Service executive secretary Hopkins of Prescott, discussed merging the War Camp service into Community Service, Inc. The city would guarantee support until January 31, with National HQ in New York to supply organizers and a traveling auditor, as local leaders pledged to back the plan and ensure continuance.

George T Brown longtime Gallup American Coal Co. executive died Thursday after stomach surgery at California University Kan hospital. He helped organize Gallup American Coal Co. in 1917 and was formerly with Victor American Coal Co. Survived by wife and 11 year old daughter. Funeral Sunday at Gallup Mortuary with Masonic rites.

Moreland Elected Cashier of Luverne Bank

Otha O. Moreland of Gallup State Bank has been chosen cashier of the Farmers National Bank in Luverne Minnesota. He is the son of Alderman Br H Moreland of Gallup and has served as assistant cashier at Gallup for three and a half years. His departure for Minnesota is expected around November 1.

T. T. Schofield was transferred from Miami Arizona J C Penney to the Gallup store management. J J Baker moves to another Penney store and has not yet learned his new posting. Run Off Third Street Bridge Tragedy Reflects Bridge Neglect

Bill Rice and Bill Johnson with wives and two children plunged into the Puerco at the Third Street Bridge last night around 9. They were rescued with injuries. Mrs Johnson is seriously hurt and Mr Johnson badly injured. The Cedar Hill New Mexico family had been en route to California. The crash followed the bridge washout with no danger signal, drawing sharp criticism of local authorities for neglect.

Dr Ada Chevailler Returns From Lecture Tour

Dr Ada M Chevailler arrived home Wednesday night from a lecture tour delivering 22 speeches and securing pledges for 183000 dollars worth of stock in the Chevailler Sanitorium Corporation. She visited Chicago and the middle west speaking in larger cities. She reports wonderful success and cordial greetings.
